About The Artist
Leon was born in Manchester, England and grew up on his parents’ farm near Sudbury, Ontario. As a teenager, he developed a great interest and love for the natural world which he expressed by painting. He went on to acquire an education in science, which eventually led him to a career as an entomology technician. Heeding the call to another path, he left this position to pursue painting full-time which he has been doing for over 25 years.
He is self-taught and works in acrylic to create scenes which appear much as they might have millennia ago, completely devoid of the presence of man. In addition to landscapes, he paints wildlife, florals, and renders structures on commission such as homes, businesses, and schools, largely in pen and ink.
